BREAKDOWN TO BREAKTHROUGH: ELEVATE YOUR DEI & CULTURAL IMPACT
COURSE SUMMARY
ACCORDING TO GALLUP, NEARLY HALF OF THE WORKFORCE AREN’T CREATING SAFE OR WELCOMING ENVIRONMENTS FOR DIVERSE STAFF OR PATIENTS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE SYSTEMS OR POLICIES IN PLACE THAT ENCOMPASS DIVERSITY, EQUITY, OR INCLUSION (DEI). THE BREAKDOWN OF DEI IS BEYOND THE PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. IT CAN INCLUDE OUR EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENTS, OUR NEUROLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT, AND CULTURAL SOCIETAL NORMS. ORGANIZATIONAL EDUCATION AND STRUCTURING CAN AID IN UNDERREPRESENTED POPULATIONS RECEIVING THEIR NECESSARY HEALTHCARE NEEDS AND REDUCE DISPARITIES. THIS INTERACTIVE COURSE WILL PREPARE PROFESSIONALS FOR THE FUTURE OF DEI AND EMPOWER THEM TO DEVELOP COMMUNICATION, ORGANIZATIONAL, AND PERSONAL STRATEGIES TO BREAKTHROUGH IN CREATING MORE INCLUSIVE WORKSPACES.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- Recognize the impact of neurological development and implicit bias on creating culturally-aware workspaces
- Discuss unique subsets of populations that face increased health disparities
- Identify strategies that will elevate the DEI experience in communication and organizational systems
