What to Do When Getting Your Dental CE in Labadee

One day, Smiles at Sea will (hopefully) have an entire cruise ship all to ourselves for our dental CE cruises. Until then, though, we have to compromise by renting out space on cruise lines. For our upcoming 5-night cruise from Miami, Florida to Labadee, Haiti, we’re choosing Royal Caribbean yet again. And that means there are tons of fun activities to partake in that you wouldn’t find on other cruise lines. Especially when we actually arrive in Haiti, where there’s plenty of natural and man-made facilities found in the 260-acre private Royal Caribbean resort.

As exciting as having fun at the Royal Caribbean resort is—with their Dragon’s Breath Zipline, Watersports, Aqua Park, rollercoaster, and more—having the time of your life at a tropical resort is just the tip of the iceberg. Labadee is an area full of action-packed adventures for you to embark on and peaceful spots where you can kick back, relax, and unwind from the hectic life that comes with being a dental professional.

So, if you’re interested in all the things you can do while getting your dental CE in Labadee, then keep reading!

Explore the island and its history!

You might not be permitted to go in the areas outside of the resort, but 260 acres of room to run means there are tons of places to explore and tons of history to learn about. Whether you go exploring by land or by sea, there’s no excuse for being bored in Labadee.

One option is to get on a luxury catamaran and explore the coastlines of Haiti. Christopher Columbus might be a controversial figure, but his historical significance can’t be disputed. He once stopped by the Bay of Acul in Haiti, when visiting the new world, and you can sail past such historic landmarks. Maybe you’d prefer to find yourself in total awe as you gaze up at the Citadelle Laferrière—one of Haiti’s most famous landmarks—which is a city sitting on top of a 3000-foot-long mountain and the Amiga islands. And if you’d rather add some more education to your CE trip, then you can accompany tour guides to learn about the culture of the Arawak Indians (who were the first settlers of the place).

The options are endless. It’s up to you to choose what to explore! No matter what you choose to do, though, you can always count on having a picturesque view of the mountains and forested area of the region—which takes us to the next thing you can do when you’re getting your CE in Labadee.

Enjoy the environment.

The Caribbean is known for its turquoise waters, sandy shores, coral reefs, and sunny temperature. For many people, the beaches of the Caribbean are incomparable to the beaches you’d find anywhere else. If you’re a beach bum, then Labadee surely has some special spots for you to soak up some Vitamin D, get a tan, and quench your thirst with a tropical drink by the ocean.

If you prefer wallowing in the refreshing water rather than basking upon the shore, then you can rent a floating mat and float on the calm ocean waters all day long with a cold Labadoozie in your hand. If you get hungry—or that Labadoozie runs empty—then take a short stroll over to the buffet area, right on the beach, where you can grab a bite to eat or refill your glass.

If the beach isn’t your cup of tea, then you can have a grand time exploring the caves of the island or going for nature walks in the many forested regions within the resort.

Participate in fun and games!

Any island experience should be accompanied with fun and games. At the resort, there’s an aqua park, roller coaster, and more that are all there just to satiate your desire for a good time. But there are also activities you can sign up for that take place elsewhere, like a speedy boat ride excursion on the RIB.

The RIB is a custom-made, motorized inflatable boat ride that speeds through the waters at 50 miles per hour, taking you around the coastlines of Labadee. You can enjoy the wind in your hair as you bounce over the swells, or let the RIB take you to a prime snorkeling spot. The guided snorkel tour takes you to some of Haiti’s northern coral reefs, for an enjoyable snorkeling adventure.

What are you waiting for?

A trip to Labadee is a paradise for almost anyone. Being on a tropical island in the Caribbean is way more enjoyable than sitting in some stuffy conference room for hours on end. So, what are you waiting for? Come aboard with us to get your dental CE credits!

From April 18-23, 2021, we’re going to be exploring the seas for a 5-night cruise from Miami, Florida to Labadee, Haiti. If you get onboard with us, you’ll have the time of your life, and you can be sure to look forward to an educational vacation rather than some ordinary dental convention.
